[Ulsan][Gusae-ri 1990] Ocean Breeze & Pasta Plates – A Calm Seaside Meal near Ganjeolgot
It’s not just a restaurant.
That was my first thought as I stepped into Gusae-ri 1990 Seosaeng Branch, perched quietly on the edge of Ulsan near Ganjeolgot Cape.
More than food, it offered something harder to find — a moment of pause, a view of blue waves brushing up against sky, and a meal that unfolded slowly.
This is the kind of place you don’t stumble into — you discover it.
🌊 A Table by the Sea
The restaurant is located in Seosaeng, a quiet seaside village that feels suspended between Busan and Ulsan.
From the outside, the building looks like something lifted from a European beach town — two stories high, clean lines, white walls, and giant glass windows that invite in both sunlight and sea.
And the view?
Wherever you sit, you’re handed a slice of the East Sea.
Waves roll gently in the background, cars on the coastal road move like silent film props, and the entire meal plays out like a soft Sunday scene.
🌿 Inside – Simplicity with Intention
The interior is designed with natural wood furniture, rattan light fixtures, and just the right amount of air and space.
No clutter. No overdone props.
Just a sense of order, light, and calm — a room where every element seems to say, “take your time.”
Each table is next to a large window, meaning even solo diners can share the view.
And while the space is modern, it still feels warm — a kind of quiet hospitality that doesn’t try too hard, but lands perfectly.
🍝 What We Ordered
We came hungry and ordered two main dishes:
- Seafood Tomato Pasta (₩25,000)
- Steak Cream Gnocchi (₩24,000)
The pasta came first — a beautiful plate of abalone, scallops, shrimp, and mussels nested in al dente noodles.
The tomato sauce was gentle — not too acidic, with a hint of sweetness and a light ocean flavor from the shellfish.
It wasn’t showy. It was balanced, satisfying, and quietly delicious.
Then came the gnocchi — and with it, a surprise.
🥩 Steak That Stole the Plate
While the gnocchi were soft and creamy, the real star was what sat on top:
thick-cut steak, seared until crisp on the outside, pink and juicy within.
The steak was bold and beefy, perfectly matched with the cheese-mushroom cream sauce underneath.
Each bite melted with warmth and umami.
It wasn’t what we expected — but it was exactly what we needed.
Gnocchi may have been in the name, but this dish was steak-forward, indulgent, and unexpectedly luxurious.
💬 More Than Just a Meal
Prices here are on the higher side for a casual lunch.
Two dishes can easily go over ₩50,000, and drinks or sides will nudge the bill even higher.
But here’s the truth:
you’re not just paying for the food.
You’re paying for that seat by the window, the uninterrupted horizon, the calm hum of a slow afternoon.
It’s not about fullness — it’s about quiet satisfaction.
🧼 Details That Matter
The place is clean. Tables are well-spaced. Decor is thoughtful.
Even the smallest props — a planter in the corner, the napkin holders — feel like they were placed with care.
It’s not loud. You can hear each other.
You can speak softly, sip slowly, and just watch the sea.
Gusae-ri 1990 isn’t where you rush through lunch.
It’s where you slow down and feel the hours stretch in a good way.
If you’re near Ganjeolgot, or just want a meal that feels like a soft exhale,
this is a place that gives you more than what’s on the plate.
